JOPLIN TORNADO

This past Sunday the deadliest tornado since 1925 hit Joplin, Missouri. The twister had winds of 200 mph, and was given the second highest rating assigned based on amount of damage caused. Our thoughts are with the families who've been impacted by this tragedy.

DEATH TOLL IN JAPAN RISES ABOVE 14,000

It's been over two months since the earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan, but recovery efforts are far from over. The death toll has reached 14,435, and 12,026 are still missing. Between Earthquake damage and the Fukushima emergency, over 136,000 remain displaced. JAPAN EARTHQUAKE & TSUNAMI - TWO MONTHS LATER

Two months ago, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake - the fifth-strongest earthquake in the world since 1900 and the largest on record in Japan— struck, triggering a tsunami that devastated coastal communities.
