FLOODING IN COLOMBIA AFFECTS 1.3 MILLION

Beginning in June, Colombia has been experiencing heavy rainfall causing significant flooding and landslides. Over 200,000 homes were destroyed, 136 people killed, and about 1.2 million people have been affected. While river some levels remain high, others burst their banks saturating the grounds with water impairing the production of agriculture. CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN HAITI WORSENS

In over a month, the cholera epidemic in Haiti has spread to eight of the country's 10 provinces. The death toll has reached 1,180 and some 20,000 people have been treated in hospitals for the disease, which can kill in hours through dehydration if not treated quickly. Aid agencies and NGOs have appealed for more funding and have been in a race against time to stop cholera, a preventable disease, from spreading. TROPICAL STORM TOMAS HITS HAITI

On Thursday, tropical storm Tomas drenched crowded camps in Haiti's capitol, Port-au-Prince, where 1.3 million earthquake survivors are still living in temporary tent and tarpaulin shelters.
