Why? Donating to Power the World for Mother’s Day brings:

Life-saving power to health clinics in East Africa. 1.3 billion people worldwide have no reliable access to electricity. Without power, health care in energy-poor regions, including Uganda, is severely compromised. Among those most affected are mothers in need of emergency obstetric care and their newborns.

Crucial help to mothers. Globally, 1000 women die every day in childbirth or from a pregnancy-related complication. Without electricity, midwives struggle to provide care by kerosene lantern; c/sections are conducted by flashlight, medical procedures are cancelled. With mothers’ lives on the line, clinics need light and power around the clock.

Portable solar systems. Power the World is partnering with We Care Solar, a non-profit that manufactures a rugged, reliable, portable solar system known as the Solar Suitcase. Used in clinics in 17 countries including Uganda, the Solar Suitcase provides health workers with reliable lighting and power for medical care.
