Music For Relief is raising funds for the MFR Green Home
The photo above shows the home in its current state of construction. Here is an update on the progress.
As of July 31st, the units’ walls, windows, and exterior doors have been installed. Also, the porch, rough plumbing and electricity have been completed. We've also put in sidewalls and drywalls and have even begun painting. Volunteers were hard at work caulking the houses, which seals any unwanted leaks around homes. This cuts energy costs, thus reducing each house's carbon footprint. Sidewalls were installed, which make up the exterior-most part of the house and help improve insulation. During the next builds, we'll be working on installing doors and ceramic tile flooring.
For those of you who aren't familiar with this program already, we are working with Habitat For Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to build an environmentally friendly home for an LA family in need. The house will be built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications, while staying true to Habitat's mission of making decent housing a matter of conscience and action.
